Counting Medication with Mobile Version of Inventory Ally

How do I use Inventory Ally photo count to count pills, tablets or capsules? How can I snap a photo and count?

Easily count pills, tablets, or capsules with your camera — no typing, no guessing.

Photo-Count is built right into the This Week list in the Inventory Ally mobile experience, making it quick to capture and update your inventory with just a photo.

Short video guide:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open your Inventory Ally mobile site and go to This Week’s List.

  2. Tap the PhotoCount camera icon next to the item you’re counting.

  3. Take a clear photo of the pills on a non-reflective, dark background (black works best).

  4. Inventory Ally will instantly scan and count the items for you.

  5. Need to adjust? Use the + or – buttons to fine-tune the count manually.

  6. Tap the green checkmark to confirm — the new quantity will automatically update in your inventory.

Tips:

  • Avoid glare — overhead lighting or glossy surfaces can interfere with scanning.

  • Spread pills out so they aren’t stacked or overlapping.

  • Great for tablets, capsules, or chewables.

  • This method isn't recommended for liquids or powders.
